The original espadrille, called Espardenya by the old-timers, has been handcrafted in the village of Cervera since the 13th century.
As we can see on the following pictures and video, Vicente assembles the rope into a sole and stitches it by hand using a punch, once the sole is ready, the upper canvas will also be hand stiched by the seamstresses.
The wooden bench is called " banco Alpargatero " and has been used by Vicente's family for many generations.
